Extreme Heat

Prolonged periods of excessive heat and humidity can endanger the health and safety of people living in the five-town area. Summer temperatures in southeastern Vermont are generally moderate with few days in the 90s, however, the state has a record high temperature of 105 degrees. Prolong periods of extreme heat can kill by pushing the human body beyond its capacity to maintain a normal temperature.
